AI Policy
Artificial intelligence (AI) is quickly entering every industry and every creative field. It is therefore important to me that you understand how I use AI when I create my work.
The following policy dictates my approach:
- The idea and the thesis for a book or an article will always originate from me.¹
- The research, calculation, or search outputs of an AI model are not trusted as a source and will be checked multiple times by me.¹
- No published text of any book or article will include passages written by an AI model, unless these passages are specifically identified as AI-written passages.
¹ or another human.
Here are some examples of how I use AI:
- I use AI to find the primary sources, such as papers or court documents, for claims that I need to verify during research.
- I use AI to get feedback on the flow of a piece and identify sections that might break the flow for the reader.
- I use AI to generate checklists with the manuscript comments that I have to go through during editing sessions.
Here are some examples of how I DO NOT use AI:
- I DO NOT use AI to generate the text that I publish as my work.
- I DO NOT use AI to generate new topics for articles or books I could write.
- I DO NOT use AI to do the final fact-checking of any published work.
